Data Protection
Web-based e-mail counselling.
Counselling is based on a bond of trust. The protection of your personal data and your anonymity is very important to us. Counselling contacts do not take place via a normal e-mail address but via AYGOnet, a web-based “virtual counselling service” software. Your mail contact with the counsellor will be encrypted and stored on a server. The transfer of the data from the server to your browser and vice-versa is also SSL encrypted – comparable to Online Banking – and, in accordance with the current state of technology, cannot be read or could only be read out with unreasonably great effort.
Creating a user account.
In view of the factors outlined above, it is essential for the user to register with a personal account in order to use e-mail counselling. On the login page you will need to enter a self-selected username (nickname) and a self-selected password. When registering you may supply information regarding age and gender. Where personal data is supplied, it will be encrypted and stored together with nickname and password in our database. To preserve anonymity, please use a fictional name that does not disclose your identity. Also, you are free to indicate an e-mail address. The counsellors cannot see the e-mail address which will only be used by the system for sending automatic messages.
Storing data.
You can manage your account yourself and are at any time able to delete it. But you can also ask us to delete your data. In this case, please send a message to the respective counsellor. In either case, only some statistical data will remain which cannot be associated with your person.
Visiting the website.
With every access to our internet service, data will be stored for statistical purposes. We record date, time and duration of your visit, as well as the pages viewed. This data will be used exclusively to optimise our internet service. This data is non-personal; this means that the user cannot be traced by way of the documents he visited. On no account will data be disclosed to third parties. The IP address will not be stored!
Use of cookies.
To use this service, the person seeking advice must enable cookies. A session cookie is stored which will be deleted completely when logging out. Cookies are necessary for the web server to identify you when you visit SOS OnlineHelp.
Disclaimer of liability.
The technical service provider “Die Medialen GmbH” in Bonn, Germany, is not responsible for the care of the counselling service while handling sensitive user data. Particularly with regard to notes and/or transcripts done by a counsellor meant to be used as documentation and for supervision. Not even if the user reveals his true identity to the counsellor.
Furthermore, the technical service provider assumes no liability for problems arising from the use of the counselling. In this case, people seeking advice should contact us directly: onlinehelp@sosdetresse.lu
